Civil Service Strike Could Cause Significant Disruption

UK-based Home Office staff will be joining the 100,000 civil service members striking on the 1st February 2023. This includes Border Force employees and will likely impact the movement of goods through UK ports and airports.

There are also expected be delays for those travelling to the UK from UK border controls in Calais, Dunkirk and Coquelles in Northern France.

To mitigate against any disruption, we recommend:

1.      Pre-lodging customs entries

2.      Pulling freight early where possible

Where this is not possible, we’re able to offer advice and suggest alternative action. We expect that the biggest impact is likely to be with goods requiring intervention from port employees like food stuffs and licensable goods.

If you believe this impacts you, please get in touch today and speak to a member of the team.
